“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” which has captivated over 170 million viewers worldwide and driven significant Amazon Prime memberships, will return for a third season. Prime Video confirmed the renewal, stating that pre-production is in progress and filming will commence this spring. A release date for Season 3 will be announced later.
Set thousands of years before “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Rings of Power” explores Middle-earth’s Second Age. Robert Aramayo, Morfydd Clark, and Charlie Vickers lead the cast as Elrond, Galadriel, and Sauron, respectively. Season 2 culminated in an explosive finale on October 2, 2024, leaving Galadriel determined to hunt down Sauron, who is building his power. Meanwhile, Khazad-dûm has fallen, a Harfoot journeys to Rhûn, and Númenor teeters on the brink. Season 3 leaps forward to the War of the Elves and Sauron, where the Dark Lord’s creation of the One Ring will shape Middle-earth’s fate.
